Come clear your mind and soothe your heart with some Heart Centered Kirtan. Your mantra music guides for this co-created evening of inspiration and devotion will be: Libby Volckening (keys/vox), Ezra Landis (guitar), Owen Landis (percussion) and friends.
Since 2012, HCK has been offering kirtan throughout New England with their original call-and-response devotional music. Weaving Sanskrit and Buddhist mantras into a unique blend of modern Western musical styles, Heart Centered Kirtans are meditative and uplifting experiences. Everyone is welcome including kids of all ages.
HCK has released three CDs of original mantra music, and a fourth album focusing on the healing mantras is tentatively scheduled for release in Fall 2025! What is Kirtan?
Kirtan is transcendental spiritual music and a meditation practice also described as Bhakti Yoga or Nada Yoga. Its origins come from Eastern Indian and Buddhist culture. In its tradition, Kirtan is recited as a call and response chanting from the vocal leader to the audience, who then recites or echos back the same lyrics. By chanting in this way, the sounds and voices raise a very high conscious vibration that reverberates within and outside of you, opening up energy channels. This practice calms and quiets the mind. You don't need to have any previous experience to attend a Kirtan. All spiritual faiths are welcome.
